Las Cruces Police highlight dangers of fentanyl

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) is inviting the community to an event to bring awareness to the dangers of fentanyl use.

“National Fentanyl Awareness Day” event will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 at Young Park, at 850 South Walnut St.

The Las Cruces Fire Department, Dona Ana County Health and Human Services and many more informational booths will be at the event, according to the news release by the LCPD.

National Fentanyl Awareness Day first began in 2022 to recognize the growing risk of fentanyl. According to the news release, 150 people die everyday from overdoses related to fentanyl.
