Large-scale cleanup underway after storm rips through Yuma County
YUMA, Colo. (KDVR) — Crews were busy boarding up broken windows all over the city of Yuma on Tuesday after high winds, baseball-sized hail and heavy rain came through Monday night.
“All these windows on the west side and all the windows on the north side broke out of the house last night. It was very scary,” said Tasha Keen.
Countless cars in the area have hail damage. The stained glass windows at a local church are gone.
“The window to my room broke, then the kitchen. It was just total chaos. It was very scary,” said Ivan Rico.
Major hailstorm causes damage in Yuma
Rico’s family was busy clearing the roof and all the debris on Tuesday while they waited for insurance adjusters.

One of the more shocking sights is the Cobblestone Inn & Suites. Nearly every bit of siding is ripped off the front. Nearby roads were flooded and the water was rising around Quality Irrigation.
“Pretty much shuts us down for the day,” said Rob Harding, the company president. “I grew up out here, I’ve seen a lot of hail storms, but nothing that lasted this long and did this much damage.”
