Two taken into custody after standoff at south Charlotte apartment complex

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two men have been taken into custody following a morning standoff at an apartment complex in south Charlotte, authorities confirmed.

The incident happened Wednesday morning, April 17, in the 9000 block of Arborgate Drive and ended just before 11 a.m.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were serving warrants on two people in connection to a reported robbery.

One of the two suspects had already turned themselves in before the standoff began. The second suspect was found hiding in the ceiling of their second-floor apartment, CMPD said.

Queen City News was at the scene where a man was observed coming out of an apartment unit and placed into handcuffs. At least 11 CMPD patrol units had responded to the scene.
