CHILLICOTHE — After over two years of serving as a Chillicothe City Council representative, and winning her most recent election, Councilwoman Allison Henderson has officially resigned from her position as an at-large representative effective May 3.

In an email to Council President Kevin Shoemaker and other council members, Henderson said it has been her "honor and privilege to serve" on council she also calls serving an "adventure" and "learning experience."

"I hope that I have helped to improve our city and help our neighbors," wrote Henderson.

Henderson cites personal reasons as for why she is leaving. She said her family is always a top priority for her and she needs to be more available for them without feeling like she is leaving the city "high and dry."

"I want better for the city than that and the city deserves someone who can put their attention more thoroughly to everything going on," said Henderson.

During her time on council, she is proud of the work she and others have accomplished believing that she has represented the voters well. In the future, she hopes that citizens will continue to stay involved by asking questions and holding leaders accountable for the use of taxpayer money.

State law requires Henderson's spot on the council to be filled by the Republican Central Committee within 45 days.
