Bouchra Jarrar is Lanvin’s new artistic director, and she really wants you to know it. Her first collection featured graphic elements like bright white stripes and sparkle-on-metallic-thread mash-ups, plus a lineup of major Insta-stars like Victoria’s Secret sweetheart Taylor Hill and Prada muse Sasha Pivovarova to help put the new line on blast.

“I knew she was really going for it when Karlie Kloss closed the show and joined her for her final bow,” says Isabella Burley, editor-in-chief of the youth culture bible Dazed and Confused. “She clearly recognizes that a collection can’t just be about the runway anymore. It has to be about the impact it has on social media, and the connections it can create through other channels” like music and movies.

“That’s not to say the clothes themselves weren’t very well done,” Burley insists. “It’s just… she gets the clothes need to be worn in real life AND online… and if you’re a designer who isn’t thinking about the internet as a part of your business, how can you exist in the modern world?”

Good news for fashion fans: Lanvin exists. And if you need more proof, talk to Karlie Kloss’ 5.5 million followers.
