Lansing police arrest two after shots fired from vehicle

Lansing police Tuesday said they arrested two people who fired a gun from a vehicle in the downtown area.

According to a pair of tweets, officers received reports of a vehicle driving through downtown Lansing with someone firing a weapon from the vehicle.

In a followup email, spokesperson Jordan Gulkis said the incident took place about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday near the corner of East Saginaw Street and North Washington.

Officers identified and stopped the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, police said, was a loaded handgun. Bullets in the magazine matched casings recovered in downtown.

The suspects were arrested and face charges of carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and felony firearm. Police did not provide any information about the suspects.

Police did not say whether they believe there was a specific target of the shootings or if anything was struck.
