Langston Memorial Day service returns to Wm Conrad Veterans Memorial Gardens

May 22—The Langston Community 2024 Memorial Day Observance will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wm Conrad Veterans Memorial Gardens.

This year's theme is "Remember and Honor."

According to a press release, the service will focus on several aspects of veterans.

"In addition to musical, poetic, and narrative salutes in remembrance of those veterans who perished during wartime/active duty, this year's program highlights will include honoring POW/MIA veterans; acknowledging some veterans killed in recent actions; and familiarizing our guests with services from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Red Cross and other partnering organizations," the release reads. "Following the Remembrance Program, veterans, their family members, and friends in attendance are invited to stay and fellowship at the Gardens. The Town of Langston City, the Langston City Chamber of Commerce and the Langston Men's Association are jointly sponsoring a Community Picnic Luncheon. Yard Games will be available to enjoy, with the strict provision that at least one veteran must be on each team."

Guests can also tour the raised gardens representing each branch of service and additional exhibits on display during the picnic.
