Lane restrictions near Rochester-Monaca Bridge rescheduled for Monday

ROCHESTER ― PennDOT has announced a lane restriction will begin near the Rochester Monaca Bridge next week, potentially causing traffic disruptions.

According to PennDOT, an around-the-clock lane closure will begin along the Rochester-Monaca Bridge at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 3. This closure will remain in place until the planned full closure of the bridge later in the month, with crews working on dam replacement work before the next phase of the bridge road work projects begin.

The closure will occur in the right-hand lane that connects the bridge to Pleasant Street in Rochester. PennDOT said that during the closure motorists will still be able to turn right onto Pleasant Street from the through lane.

Construction was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 28, but PennDOT rescheduled the lane closure later that day. On Friday morning, the new plans were announced, with the lane closure now lasting until the planned 67 day bridge closure in June.

This road work is a part of the $6.69 million bridge preservation work occurring at the Rochester-Monaca Bridge, which is making various upgrades and safety improvements to the structure. As PennDOT releases more details on the impending road restrictions related to the project, The Times will continue to follow the story.

Motorists are advised to practice caution when driving in the area for the workers' safety. Drivers can check the condition of the road and project status live on the 511PA website and smartphone app.
