On Wednesday, Lane County Public Health reported 21 confirmed or presumptive new cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday, raising the countywide case count to 57,026. The death count increased by two from Tuesday, to 496.

The number of county residents reported hospitalized Wednesday was 25, down three from the day before, with three in intensive care and one on a ventilator, unchanged since Monday. Of the 25 people hospitalized, 64%, or 16, are not fully vaccinated.

For the past seven days, there has been an average of 25 reported cases a day. However, because many don't report the results of their at-home COVID-19 tests, it's hard to say how many people in the area are contagious, according to public health.

LCPH encourages people who find they are sick with an at-home test to report their case online at cognitoforms.com/LaneCountyTechnologyServices/reportingapositivehomecovid19test.

As of Tuesday, 275,854 people in Lane County — 72.3% of the total population — had received first or second vaccine doses with 662,171 first and second doses administered in Lane County, according to the Oregon Health Authority.
