Highway 4 in Antioch reopens after big rig crash, diesel spill

(KRON) — A Sig Alert was issued for Highway 4 in Antioch east of Hillcrest Avenue after a collision between a big rig and a box truck Wednesday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log. All lanes were reopened just before 9 a.m.

Multiple lanes of eastbound Highway 4 were closed after a severe traffic alert was issued at 6:13 a.m. following the crash. Approximately 40 gallons of diesel were spilled from the wreckage, the CHP log showed, and was contained to three lanes.

The Contra Costa County hazmat team responded to the scene for cleanup, the incident report said.

Possible injuries and the extent of injuries to the vehicles’ occupants have not been confirmed.
