Actor Jon Hamm is getting his fill of Fort Worth’s barbecue scene while in town filming “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s latest television production.

Hamm and his wife, Anna Osceola, stopped by Near Southside’s Brix Barbecue around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, pitmaster Jeremiah Jemente said. The “Mad Men” actor got a little bit of everything from the barbecue joint that opened last summer.

Jemente recalls Hamm ordering half a pound of lean brisket, half a pound of ribs, a jalapeno cheddar sausage link and coleslaw. The Brix crew also threw in a slice of their fan-favorite porchetta.

“We were hoping they would come by,” Jemente said. “Whenever we saw them come up, we were really excited.”

Hamm has been exploring the Fort Worth culinary scene since the weekend, stopping by Goldee’s Barbecue on Sunday and Curly’s Frozen Custard on Monday. JD’s Hamburgers is even selling a “Jon Hammburger” this week.

On a blustery Thursday, Hamm and Osceola arrived at Brix, ordered, then sat and ate in the dining room.

After the couple finished their meal, Jemente went over and introduced himself to Hamm, and the two took a photo together. Hamm then gathered up with a few other Brix staffers for a group photo before he and Osceola went on their way.

While a “Mad Men” fan, Jemente said he’s an even bigger airplane nerd and particularly enjoyed Hamm’s performance in “Top Gun: Maverick”.

“He’s just a baller in that,” Jemente said. “When I saw him, it just brought a smile to my face.”

Brix Barbecue is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or sold out) Thursday-Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at 1012 S. Main St.

WHY IS JON HAMM HANGING AROUND FORT WORTH?

Hamm is in town filming “Landman,” the latest series from North Texas native Taylor Sheridan.

“Landman” began production in Fort Worth last month and is expected to film in and around North Texas for the next few months. Hamm joins a previously announced cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.

Hamm is set to portray Monty Miller, a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton). “Landman” is co-created and executive produced by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, which is based on Texas Monthly’s podcast “Boomtown” that Wallace wrote and hosted.

The show’s synopsis reads, “Landman is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

“Landman” will debut on Paramount+.
