Lancaster school lockdown lifted after police activity

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Several School District of Lancaster buildings were on external lockdown due to a police investigation in the area.

According to the district, Hamilton Elementary and Martin School went into lockdown at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Thursday. Forty-five minutes later the lockdown was extended to Lafayette Elementary, Smith-Wade-El Elementary, and Wheatland Middle School.

The lockdown was lifted for all schools around 12:50 p.m.

The nature of the police investigation is unknown at this time, however, the district says the lockdown was requested by police and was unrelated to the schools.
