Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit System provided 128,489 passenger rides last year
LANCASTER − Fairfield County plans to take over the Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit System in the summer if all goes well. On Tuesday transit system officials gave the county commissioners a look at how things went in 2023.
The service provided 128,489 passenger trips, which was an increase of 17,230 from 2022.
Transit system vehicles drove 494,647 miles.
The system had a 98% on-time performance rate, with 2,658 no shows. That averages out to eight no shows per day.
The system denied service to 3,474 riders, or 11 per day.
Commissioner Steve Davis said the county will only take over the system if the city agrees to a prior agreement.
Besides the transit review, the commissioners heard from numerous people on the possibility of companies building solar fields in the county. Those who spoke represented each side of the controversial issue.
