Lancaster County man sentenced for assaulting medics, disarming officer

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lancaster County man could spend over a decade in prison for assaulting a paramedic and an EMT and trying to take a gun from a Lancaster City Police Officer in February of 2022.

29-year-old Jeremic Medina-Dorta, of Columbia Borough, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated assault, six counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of criminal mischief, and disarming a law enforcement officer.

The Lancaster County District Attorney says paramedics were trying to treat him when he became agitated and found a knife on him.

One of the first responders was cut on the stomach, the other had bruising from being punched and kicked.

According to the District Attorney, Medina-Dorta also grabbed an officer’s gun while it was holstered causing it to fire. No one was injured from the firearm.

Medina-Dorta was sentenced to four to 14 years in prison.
