Lancaster County man convicted of rape, sexual assault nearly 30 years later

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A New Providence man accused of sexual abuse dating back nearly three decades has been convicted.

Following a three-day trial and an hour-and-a-half of jury deliberations, George Pfeiffer, 64, was found guilty of 30 sexual abuse charges.

Pfeiffer was first accused by Manor Township Police in 2021 of rape and sexual abuse for acts occurring between 1995 and 2002 against two victims, and from 2014 to 2021 against a third victim.

“(The first two victims) waited nearly 30 years for this day, but they never really thought it would happen,” Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick said in a media release. “They would have taken (Pfeiffer’s) sick secret to their graves, but he could not stop sexually abusing children.”

Haverstick said the case was the oldest sex offense case in the county.

He was convicted of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault.

A date for a sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
