Lakeshore Technical College president joins national community colleges board

CLEVELAND — The American Association of Community Colleges recently named Lakeshore Technical College President Paul Carlsen to its board.

The association is a national advocacy organization representing more than 1,000 two-year community colleges across the country that serve nearly 12 million students.

Board members are elected by chief executive office members of the association.

“(This) is a testament not just to his leadership, but also the caliber of our college and the impact we have on our students and our communities,” LTC Board Chairman John Wyatt said in a news release.

“Paul’s dedication to our mission will undoubtedly enrich the discussions and decisions made at the national level, driving positive change for technical and community colleges,” Wyatt added.

“As one of the first millennials to become a community college president, it is time for me and others from my generation to step up and maintain the momentum of the association’s mission to build a nation of learners,” Carlsen said.
