Lake Charles man arrested in St. Martin Parish on sex offender registration charges

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) – A Calcasieu Parish man wanted on sex offender registration charges since Jan. 2023 was arrested in St. Martin Parish.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, In January 2023, detectives with the Sex Offender Unit began an investigation in January 2023 concerning convicted sex offender, Albert L. Breaux, 44 of Lake Charles, after he didn’t register.

In December 2022, Breaux failed to report for his quarterly registration update. Detectives later learned Breaux had left his registered address in Lake Charles and didn’t notify law enforcement within three days. Both actions put him in violation of his registration requirements.

Detectives issued a warrant for Breaux in Jan. 2023. They attempted to locate Breaux, but were unsuccessful.  On Wednesday, detectives learned Breaux was found in St. Martin Parish. He was arrested and extradited back to Calcasieu Parish.

Breaux was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2 counts of failure to register as a sex offender. His bond is set at $80,000.

Breaux was convicted of forcible rape in 2000 in Orleans Parish.
