Gaga accused the President of endangering the lives of people currently serving.

She also stated that Trump's announcement would have far-reaching consequences for young people outside the military, adding that the ban would send out a nationwide message that would encourage the "targeting" of trans people.

The LGBTQ rights advocate cited research by the Williams Institute into the rate of suicide among young trans people.

"Within the trans community are many also who are strong and brave. They should be able to serve if they wish. To have honor if they do," Gaga continued.

On Wednesday morning, President Trump announced via three tweets that the U.S. Government "would not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military." "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."

It has been met with widespread condemnation.
