LA Metro to perform emergency drill in Culver City

A public safety drill will be held on the Metro E Line in Culver City next weekend.

LA Metro, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and police and fire departments from L.A. and Culver City will conduct the drill Saturday, March 30 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Culver City Metro station att 8817 Washington Blvd.

The drill will necessitate the closure of the eastbound E Line track, but the westbound track will remain open throughout, Metro officials said.

Specific details about the emergency drill were not immediately released, but Metro said it’s being conducted to prepare in the event of an emergency on the E Line at Culver City.

Angelenos can expect to see a heavy presence of first responders and vehicles, fire apparatus parked near Ivy Station and “simulated smoke” from the demonstration train. Sirens will not be used, officials said.

The plaza between Ivy Station property and the Culver City Metro station platform will be used for staging the drill and will also be used to park participating vehicles.

Metro expects the drill to go smoothly and for service to resume as normal by 10 a.m., but the community is directed to reach out via email with any concerns.
