Godzilla spin-off show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is coming back for a second season.

Debuting on streamer Apple TV+ last year, it saw father-and-son duo Kurt (The Hateful Eight) and Wyatt Russell (Thunderbolts) tackling the same character at different stages of his life, ex-army colonel Lee Shaw, who established the monster-chasing organisation Monarch in the 1950s.

Following the first season's success – it holds a superb 89% score on review aggregator Rotten TomatoesVariety reports that there are officially more episodes on the way via Legendary Entertainment, as well as multiple offshoots set in the MonsterVerse.

Elsewhere in the MonsterVerse, which kicked off with the Gareth Edwards version of Godzilla a whole decade ago, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire crashed onto the big screen just recently.

In a three-star review, Digital Spy's Ian Sandwell wrote: "While there could still be improvements made, the movie gives you the belief that the MonsterVerse has an identity now. Future movies could continue to tweak elements, but they shouldn't move away from making the titans the centre of the story.

"It sounds obvious, yet it's still taken five movies to get to this point. Fortunately, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has got there and the result is the most enjoyable MonsterVerse movie yet."
