Two people are dead following a dispute between neighbors in Kure Beach Tuesday afternoon.

The Kure Beach Police Department responded at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a dispute with shots fired at 121 Ocean View Ave. Upon arrival, officers found a dead man with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a press release from the department.

Officers who responded to the scene determined the suspect had returned to his home. While attempting life-saving measures on the victim, officers heard a single gunshot from the home.

Law enforcement secured the scene, and a tactical unit from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office entered the home. There, they located the suspect, who was found dead.

The incident is believed to be isolated, according to the release.

The Kure Beach Police Department asks people to avoid Ocean View Avenue, which remains closed due to the investigation.

In addition to the Kure Beach department, the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Carolina Beach Police Department, N.C. Highway Patrol and N.C. Park Rangers, according to the release.
