United Nations (United States) (AFP) - Iraq's Ambassador to the United Nations, Ali al-Hakim, denied Thursday that air strikes had been carried out against Islamic State fighters.

"There is no strike being done yet," the ambassador told reporters. A spokesman for the Kurdish peshmerga force said earlier that US warplanes had bombed Islamic State jihadist targets in two areas of northern Iraq. The Pentagon denied that any US airstrikes had been conducted.
