Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell discussed Europe’s potential to deliver additional U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported on March 25.

Kuleba briefed Borrell on recent Russian missile attacks targeting Kyiv and other cities.

“I stressed the need for Ukraine to receive more Patriot air defense systems and other systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles," the message quotes Kuleba.

He noted that Ukraine is the only country currently dealing with nearly daily ballistic missile attacks.

Compared to other anti-air systems Ukraine uses, Patriot has proven to be the most reliable in dealing with the variety of ballistic missiles Russia uses to strike Ukrainian cities.

The first U.S.-supplied Patriot battery entered service with Ukraine’s armed forces in early 2023.
