Kuipers Sues Kanye Promotional Company Over Album Listening Party

The lawsuit claims the company invited several hundred more guests to the event than expected.

MAPLE PARK, IL -- A family farm in Maple Park is suing a promotional company responsible for hosting a Kanye West album listening party in June after 1,100 additional tickets were released online for the event at the last minute. Kimberly Kuipers said her and her husband, Wade, were told by Boulevard Management Inc. and Getting Out Our Dreams, II, LLC, that the party was just supposed to be a 200-person private VIP party, according to the Daily Herald. And that they were not prepared for hundreds more to attend.

The June 6 listening party was one of three across the country following the release of Kanye West's album, "ye," on June 1. Kuipers said the potential for a much larger-than-expected party at Kuipers Farm, 1N318 Watson Road, forced Kuipers to rent additional portable toilets and spend more on security and traffic control, according to the article. Several noise complaints were also made, she said.

The lawsuit claims event organizers released tickets for 1,114 additional guests past the contracted 200 and is seeking $60 for each person in damages or $62,715, according to the Daily Herald.

"There was definitely the potential for 1,500 people to show up," she told the newspaper.

The parties are next expected in court on Nov. 8.
