Kuala Lumpur replaces Rio as Laureas awards host

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — The 2014 Laurues World Sports Awards will be held in Kuala Lumpur next month, with organizers announcing the new venue less than a month after ending the contract with Rio de Janeiro.

Awards chairman Edwin Moses announced the change on Wednesday, taking the event dubbed the Oscars of sports to Southeast Asia for the first time.

Usain Bolt and Jessica Ennis received the biggest individual prizes last March in the 2013 event staged in Rio.

The Malaysian capital will host the 15th edition of the awards on March 26.
