KU women’s basketball lands eight-seed in NCAA tournament

LAWRENCE (KSNT) – KU women’s basketball is upping its game after winning the WNIT in 2023.

Kansas is in the big dance this time, earning a eight-seed in the Regional 3. Brandon Schneider’s team will play nine-seed Michigan in the first round, in Los Angeles.

KU’s first game will be at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 23.

If KU women’s basketball wins its opening game, it will likely play No. 1 USC.

The postseason bid comes after a scorching hot end to the season for Kansas. KU won nine of its last eleven games. The ‘Hawks finished the regular season 18-11 overall, including 11-7 in conference play, before going 1-1 in the Big 12 tournament.

K-State women’s basketball is a four-seed and will host its opening weekend. Click here for that story.

Its just the second NCAA tournament bid in the last 11 seasons for the program. KU lost in the second round in 2021-22.
