[1] Man wanted for NMSP officer’s murder taken into custody – New Mexico State Police said Jaremy Smith, the man wanted for killing Officer Justin Hare, has been captured. BCSO said Sunday morning, a clerk at a gas station reported they saw someone matching Smith’s description. Smith was reportedly spotted walking on Unser, and authorities established a perimeter. A foot pursuit took place, and shots were fired. Smith was hit and taken to the hospital. No deputies were reported injured.

[2] No deputies injured in shooting near Pan American Freeway, BCSO says – Authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting on Sunday. BCSO says deputies responded to 2nd St. and Osuna after getting calls about a suspicious vehicle. They say when deputies approached the vehicle, the driver refused to comply and drove towards deputies, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit ended in the parking lot of the Carpenters Union at 3900 Pan American Freeway where deputies fired at least one round. No suspects or deputies were injured in the incident. BCSO says two suspects were taken into custody.

[3] Warmer and drier weather around New Mexico – Moisture will be limited to the west and south throughout the day, while the Albuquerque Metro, northern and eastern New Mexico will stay dry with a mix of sun and clouds for most of the day. Tuesday will be drier across the south and east, with scattered rain in the Four Corners, central and northern NM during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be warmer than this past weekend, and we will see gradually warming temperatures through this weekend.

[4] New Mexico group looks to help Texans impacted by wildfire – A group in New Mexico has their eyes set on helping Texans after the largest wildfire in Texas history broke out in the panhandle and burned more than a million acres of grassland. The New Mexico Baptist Disaster Relief are looking to offer a helping hand by taking hay donations to help fill the gap. While hay is a big focus, the group is accepting everything from monetary donations to wildlife feed, and fencing.

[5] Lobos selected as 11 seed for NCAA tournament – By winning the Mountain West conference tournament, the Lobos Men’s Basketball Team clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Sunday, UNM was selected as an 11 seed and will play the 6 seed Clemson Tigers in the opening round in Memphis, Tennessee, on Friday. This marks the 16th NCAA tournament appearance for UNM and first since 2014.
