[1] Family speaks after woman shot in the neck at Albuquerque graduation ceremony – The family of a woman shot at an Albuquerque graduation ceremony is speaking out. Wednesday, police say Victoria Bencomo was at the Albuquerque convention center attending her son’s graduation. Police say her 21-year-old step son, Cristian Bencomo shot her in the neck. Bystanders were able to intervene, holding Cristian down until police arrived. Cristian is facing multiple charges. The family says Victoria, is in critical, but stable condition.

[2] Mother speaks out after son’s killer is acquitted in retrial in Albuquerque – The mother of a man shot and killed during an attempted robbery is speaking out after a jury found the man who killed him not guilty of murder. In 2016, Tyler Lackey was at an ATM when Matthew Chavez tried to rob him. Lackey took out his own gun, which he had legally, and Chavez shot and killed him. In 2018 Chavez was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 23 and a half years behind bars. Chavez recently appealed the conviction and had a retrial, claiming he shot in self defense. The jury found Chavez not guilty on charges of second degree murder and manslaughter. The jury did find Chavez guilty of tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

[3] Windy Friday morning, showers and storms for the weekend – Winds will lighten this afternoon, with gusts up to 35 mph. Skies will be partly cloudy today, and we will see more showers in the northern mountains and east mountains this afternoon, with light showers possible in the Metro. Showers and storms will continue through Saturday morning in northern and northeast New Mexico. Even more rain will develop Saturday morning across eastern New Mexico. The sun will come out midday in the Metro, allowing more storms to develop during the afternoon and evening.

[4] 3 Albuquerque students named U.S. Presidential Scholars – Three Albuquerque students have earned the honor by becoming U.S. Presidential Scholars. They, along with 158 others from around the country, will be recognized at an online program this summer. The students come from the Albuquerque Institute of Math and Science, The Early College Academy and Albuquerque Academy.

[5] Pictures of Hope at the Albuquerque Museum – Local organization New Day partnered with Pictures of Hope to give young people cameras to showcase their hopes and dreams through photography. The photos from those young adults are featured in an exhibition at the Albuquerque museum. The Pictures of Hope program aims to empower youth facing homelessness.
