[1] High school student accused of bringing gun to school released to family – West Mesa High School was placed on lockdown after there were reports of a student having a gun. The student is accused of bringing the gun and also being drunk at school. The student was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital to be cleared before being taken to the juvenile center. The teen and officers waited more than three hours, before the facility denied his admittance, saying he did not have proper medical clearance from the hospital. The student was then released to his family.

[2] State Supreme Court listens to arguments in former state official’s corruption case – The New Mexico Supreme Court will now decide the punishment for a high profile political corruption case. Former taxation and revenue secretary Demesia Padilla was found guilty in 2021 for stealing $25,000 from a client. Her convictions were overturned last year after the appeals court ruled prosecutors violated the statute of limitations in the case. Now the state supreme court will decide if that decision should stand. Justices did not make a decision in the case Tuesday and there’s no word on when exactly they could make a ruling.

[3] Increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms through Thursday – Wednesday will be similar to Tuesday, with dry skies until late morning. Most rain will come down in the mountains of central, western and northern New Mexico during the afternoon and evening. A backdoor cold front will move into New Mexico tonight through Thursday morning. This will bring more low level moisture into the state, and keep rain chances going through the night and into Thursday morning.

[4] CNM ready to roll out new EV certification program – CNM is getting ready to launch a program to train the work force needed to maintain the growing number of electric vehicles in New Mexico. This fall, CNM is launching the two-semester program that will help students become EV technicians. Students will learn repair, maintain, and build EV’s. CNM says its program will focus on three types of vehicles including fully electric, hybrid, and plug-in cars. CNM says the goal is for their certified technicians to be able to work for EV dealerships.

[5] ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan returns to ABQ to film new series – Vince Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” will be filming an untitled project in and around Albuquerque, according to the New Mexico Film Office. The new series will star ‘Better Call Saul’ actress Rhea Seehorn. In a statement, Gilligan says he chose Albuquerque because of the cinematic landscape and strong crews.
