[1] Brewhouse in Old Town broken into after door smashed in – Outpost 1706, a brewery in Albuquerque’s Old Town, had its glass front door smashed in. Security footage shows a male suspect walking around the bar’s patio before throwing what’s believed to be a rock through the entrance and going inside. The owner says the suspect spent just three minutes inside the business. The owner said the suspect did take items including an iPad. In total, he said the suspect cost him at least $3,000 in damages and stolen items.

[2] ABQ couple struggles to get medication after nationwide pharmacy cyber-attack – Some Albuquerque residents are feeling the effects of a nationwide cyber-attack, making it difficult for military clinics, hospitals and pharmacies to get medication. According to a press release from Military Health System Communications, Change Healthcare, reported a cyber-attack sometime in February. To protect patient information, the company disconnected their systems on February 21, affecting all military pharmacies, and anyone on the Tricare health program. The press release says, as of March 1, military clinics and hospitals will continue to provide prescriptions but will do the process manually. It says that military pharmacies will prioritize filling urgent prescriptions first.

[3] Mild and calmer weather to start the week – Monday will be a beautiful, mild and breezy day. The winds will only gust up to around 30 mph at the highest. Skies will be sunny, and temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Sunday. Tuesday will be even cooler in the eastern plains, with lighter winds and high clouds. Wednesday will be a breezier day, but warmer than normal.

[4] Structure ‘total loss’ after Torrance County fire – Crews are investigating the cause of a fire in Torrance County Sunday. Officials say the fire burned four acres of land, several vehicles, out buildings and a mobile home were lost to the fire. No civilians were injured and one firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

[5] Researchers develop prototype on a new protective seal – Work on a new protective seal is underway by researchers at Sandia National Labs that could prevent tampering attempts on nuclear material and pharmaceutical products. Engineers at the labs have developed a prototype that would show if those products have been tampered with. Researchers hope this will help ease the inspectors’ job while out in the field. They believe these seals could eventually be used on pharmaceutical products.
