KRON4’s Pam Moore wins Powerful Woman of the Bay Special Recognition Award

(KRON) — There were hugs all around from and for Pam Moore at Jack London Square in Oakland on Thursday. Hard to believe — but it’s been three months since the legacy news anchor officially retired after 32 years with KRON4.

“We all have power, and we can all use that power to help somebody else. I’ve been very fortunate,” Moore said in her award speech on Thursday.

Women’s History Month closed out at Scott’s Seafood Grill and Bar, where 350 guests, including local leaders and dignitaries, gathered to honor nine women at the 15th annual Powerful Women of the Bay Awards. Moore received the Powerful Women of the Bay special recognition award.

“I can’t even tell you how much it means to me. I don’t want to get teary, but you know, this community has given my life so much. I’m so enriched by the love and support that people have shown me, so I’m really grateful,” Moore said.

In June 2023, KRON4 honored Moore by naming the KRON news studio “Pam Moore Studio 4,” with a wall-size plaque and photograph.

In December, Moore was honored with the San Francisco Press Club Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the numerous accolades she has received in her more than three decades in news.

“If you feel that you’ve touched anybody’s life in a good way with all the troubles and the weight of the world, if you could touch somebody’s life in a good way, you can’t compare that to anything. You know, that’s what we’re supposed to do,” Moore said.

Moore joined KRON4 in March 1991 as an anchor and general assignment reporter. During her time with KRON4, Moore was nominated for multiple Emmy awards for her work on the specials “From Selma to Ferguson,” “Diets Don’t Work,” and “The Brain.” In May 2000, she received a Northern California Emmy Award for “Who Owns Your Health.”

Moore has been inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, honoring her significant contribution to Northern California and honored for her career by the Society of Professional Journalism, NorCal.
