Krispy Kreme offering free donuts for Mardi Gras beads

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Krispy Kreme is offering free donuts in exchange for Mardi Gras beads at one location in Baton Rouge.

People can receive a coupon for a free dozen Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts for every 12 pounds of beads they bring to the location on Plank Road from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 5 or March 6.

The annual bead drive benefits The Arc of Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO) and Augusta Evans School in Mobile, Alabama. These organizations employ those with intellectual and developmental disabilities who recycle Mardi Gras beads.

Coupons for the doughnuts can be redeemed at participating shops until April 15, according to an official press release.

“We truly appreciate Krispy Kreme’s support each year,” said Senior Director of Operations over the Mardi Gras Recycle Center at ArcGNO Sherrana McGee-Stemley. “By continuing our partnership, Krispy Kreme makes it possible for us to provide supported employment for people with intellectual disabilities while helping the Mardi Gras Recycle Center keep discarded beads out of landfills.”

Another Krispy Kreme location accepting Mardi Gras beads is 825 Clearview Parkway in Metairie.
