Kris Aquino loses aimed role due to "age-inappropriate"

9 Aug – Although she plays the role of Princess Intan in the new Hollywood movie, "Crazy Rich Asians", Kris Aquino revealed that she initially aimed to get a different role when she auditioned for the project.

As reported on Rappler, the actress, who spoke to the media about her involvement in the movie, said that the producers thought that she was too young for the role that she wanted, as she auditioned for a character who has a 32-year-old daughter.

Aquino herself was 46 at the time.

"You see, Hollywood don't allow roles that are not age-appropriate. But here, who cares if you are 32 but play someone with a 25-year-old child. We do that here, don't we?" she said.

Aquino said that because of that, she was offered the role of Princess Intan instead.

It's nothing strange for Filipino actors to play the role that are not age appropriate for them. Previously, 35-year-old Iza Calzado played the role of a mother of Julia Barretto in the drama "A Love to Last", even though the latter is just 14 years old younger than her.

On the other hand, Bea Alonzo was in her early teens when she played the role of an aspiring lawyer in the hit drama, "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay".
