Krile Communications wins chamber's Small Business of the Year Award

SUGAR GROVE − Krile Communications owner Angela Krile said she usually wants her clients to be in the spotlight. But her company is taking part of that spotlight as this year's Lancaster-Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year Award winner.

"Obviously, we're very honored to receive this award," Krile said. "The fact that we're being honored for work that we do was kind of an extension of honoring our clients, too. Because we wouldn't be where we are without them. We look at it as a celebration of all of that."

Krile Communications is a public relations and marketing firm with mostly local and statewide clients.

"We're very much homegrown and very local, and we appreciate being able to be part of businesses and non-profits here in Fairfield County," Krile said. "We're a full-service communications firm. I look at us as a one-stop shop for anything related to getting the word out about an organization. So, we do everything from message development all the way through getting that message out to whomever is most appropriate for that organization."

Krile opened her public relations and marketing firm in 2010 after working for a Columbus public relations firm for 15 years. She has seven employees, two interns and five freelancers.

"We have grown more than I ever thought we would," Krile said. "I never thought we'd be more than just me and a couple clients. It's sort of taken on a life of its own. People have grown to understand what we do and appreciate what we do. There really was a need in Fairfield County for this kind of service. Fortunately, we were able to do that and be here at a time when people needed the work that we do."

Many businesses, of course, were heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with some of those businesses no doubt Krile's clients.

"It really shined the light on the need for internal communications and really skilled ways to talk to employees about what was happening because of the changing regulations and the ever-evolving environment," she said. "I really found myself being a resource for my clients because I tried to keep up with the law changes and the regulation changes. Then we created material so they could communicate with their employees about what was changing with their businesses."
