Krewe of Orpheus wraps up Lundi Gras at Orpheuscapade in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Everyone was ready to let loose on Lundi Gras at this year’s Orpheuscapade, getting ready to roll on Fat Tuesday.

“It’s so much fun. This was such a short Mardi Gras season, but I feel like Orpheus ends the night for all of us and we just parade tomorrow and then that’s it,” said Claire Cummings.

For many, it was their first Mardi Gras ball, and some say it’s a brand-new experience they have never felt before.

“This for us is a new experience so every year it brings something different for Mardi Gras so we’re loving it,” said Veronica Cheneau.

“It’s my first time here for Orpheus. I’m super excited here because I hear it’s like the best ball ever,” said Rose Bailey.

For a party hosted by Harry Connick Jr., there has to be some great music, and this year didn’t disappoint with performances from Taylor Dayne, the 12 South Band and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

“The music is going to be wonderful. I know it’s going to go all night and I know that no matter what his live entertainment is going to be fabulous,” said Madeline Reineke.

“I’m glad I brought tennis shoes to change into because I know we’re going to be dancing most of the night away for sure,” said Olivia Nuss.

And for those who have to come to the ball before, they said there’s something special that makes them come back each time.

“I think, again, it’s the vibe. I mean not just of course it’s Orpheus, but everybody here is in sync. I mean Everton here is dressed to the nines but we’re casual. We have fun and at the end of the night it’s New Orleans coming together,” said Cummings.
