Kostyuk drops WTA 500 final in San Diego in nail-biting fashion – video

Ukrainian tennis sensation Marta Kostyuk suffered a setback in the final at the WTA 500 tournament in San Diego, USA.

The No. 34-ranked Kostyuk claimed the first set 7-5, despite conceding two service breaks, against Britain's No. 49-ranked Katie Boulter in a nail-biting final.

Boulter turned the tide and levelled the match with a stellar performance in the second set, dominating with a score of 6-2.

The Britain showcased her prowess in the decisive third set, winning all her service games, along with three of Kostyuk's. Boulter clinched the title with another 6-2 set.

WTA 500 San Diego. Hard. Final

Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) - Katie Boulter (Great Britain) - 7-5, 2-6, 2-6.

It was Kostyuk’s second WTA final, after triumphing at a tournament in Austin in 2023.

For Boulter, this victory adds another feather to her cap, securing her second career title and her first in the WTA 500 series, following her triumph at Nottingham in 2023.
