Korean-style egg sandwiches are coming to Sacramento area as chain opens first US location
The Sacramento area will soon be home to Momo Korean Egg Drop’s first sandwich shop in the United States.
The franchise, which specializes in Korean-style egg sandwiches, is opening a location inside Bober Tea & Coffee at 8848 Calvine Road, Suite 160, in Elk Grove, according to an Instagram post.
The eatery will have its grand opening on Saturday, June 1.
Leading up to its official opening date, Momo will have a soft opening phase from Monday through May 31.
Five friends started Momo Korean Egg Drop in the Philippines in August 2021, according to the chain’s website.
“Since most of us are K-drama fanatics, we decided to adopt one of the famous food featured in our favorite K-drama, the egg drop sandwich,” they said.
What are Korean egg sandwiches?
Korean egg drop sandwiches feature fluffy scrambled eggs and thick-cut bread.
At Momo, the sandwiches are made with milk bread, soft scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese.
The restaurant’s menu features different variations of the sandwich, such as the Seoul Spam, which has Spam, sliced mango and nori, and the Gwanju Bacon, which has thick-cut bacon.
The eatery also has egg sandwiches with beef bulgogi, chicken or ham.
Restaurant chain is opening more US locations
According to its U.S. website, Momo is opening more locations in the country.
Locations that are “hatching soon” include Martinez, Sunnyvale and Stockton.
Outside of California, the chain plans to open a restaurant in Minneapolis.
