Kool: Not so cool

Golden Star Ganesh's first attempt as director has not even met the expectations of his passionate fans. Ganesh, who stormed the Kannada film industry like a colossus through his splendid performance in Mungaru Male, has apparently not put in the required creative efforts to create his first film with proper focus. The result? The huge expectations built around the film have now created a negative effect. The first and last ten minutes are fine; that's all. Ganesh had been announcing in many TV interviews that the film is sure to give full entertainment value for the fans as it is packaged beautifully. But even if the film has high technical values, the story and screenplay are weak. The narration is full of loopholes, mainly because of the weak script. Even the comedy sequences are irritating at times. Coming to the positive elements, it is Ganesh the actor who has put in his best efforts. His dialogue delivery is superb and dances are a delight to watch. Sharan and Sadhu's comedy works occasionally. But the negative elements overweigh the positive elements and the second half of the film drags on endlessly. Sana Khan as a heroine is certainly a bad selection. In all the South Indian films that Sana Khan has acted in, she has proved to be totally inadequate for her roles. Rathnavelu's camerawork and Hari Krishna's two music compositions notwithstanding, Kool suffers because of the dragging narration. It is not the coolest release in this hot summer.
