Are Kohl's Black Friday TV Deals Any Good?
Kohl's is better known for clothes and housewares, but the retailer is getting in on the Black Friday TV action. Looking through the Kohl's Black Friday ad scan—thank you, BFAds.net—we see that there aren't a lot of models being offered, but a few of the deals look decent.
This year, Kohl's will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, but you can shop the Kohl's doorbuster specials online starting Monday, Nov. 21. Both in-store and online doorbusters will last until supplies run out, or until the sale times out at 1 p.m. on Black Friday.
BFAds.net suggests that you also watch for a coupon for 15 percent off sitewide during the event, because Kohl's offered one last year.
If you're looking at the ad scans, you'll see that Kohl's doesn't list the model numbers. But we did some sleuthing and think we have pretty good guesses.
Here's what we found:
Kohl's Black Friday TV Deals
• A 49-inch Haier 4K TV for $250 as a doorbuster special. We think it's the Haier 49UF250, a fairly basic 4K set that normally sells for $350 at Kohl's. We don't see it anywhere else.
• A 55-inch LG 4K "ULED" smart TV for $500. We think this is a misprint, because the term "ULED" is used by Hisense to designate its top-tier 4K TVs. Our guess is that this set is the LG 55UH6030, which normally sells for about $750. But this set was available about a month ago at BJ's for the same $500 price.
• A 40-inch Samsung 1080p smart TV for $250. We think it might be the Samsung UN40J5200, which sells at Kohl's and other retailers for about $330. If so, this is a 2015 model that was on sale during last year's Black Friday sales for about $320.
• A 39-inch Vizio, described only as a "full-array LED TV," for $180. This one is hard to place, but we're guessing it's an entry-level D-series set, maybe the Vizio D39hn-E0, which you can buy right now from Vizio for $210.
• A 32-inch Hisense 720p TV for $120. We think it's the Hisense 32H3B, which normally sells for about $180. But for some odd reason you can actually buy it right now for $120 at Best Buy.
There aren't a ton of TV deals at the Kohl's Black Friday sale, and none are real blockbusters. But one or two of these sets—especially the LG—are decent deals and may make sense if you're a regular Kohl's shopper who will use the Kohl's Cash you'll earn.
