What We Know About the Record Breaking Powerball Jackpot's Mystery Winner

The frenzy for last minute tickets is over. The numbers have been picked out. Somewhere, a single person is $590.5 million richer. Last night's record Powerball jackpot has a winner but we have no idea who that person is yet.

Someone who either resides in the state of Florida or who was recently passing through has the only winning ticket for last night's record Powerball jackpot, Florida lottery officials announced last night:

BREAKING: The WINNING #Powerball jackpot ticket was sold in Florida! One ticket worth $590.5M sold at @publixsupermark in Zephyrhills.

The only winning ticket. Despite a week full of hype and long lines at supermarkets, only one ticket was sold with the winning combination. And it happened in Zephyrhills, Florida, a very small town about 29 miles northeast of Tampa. Someone at that supermarket bought the ticket with the 10, 13, 14, 22, and 52 combo, with lucky number 11 on the Powerball. Lottery officials did not indicate whether a winner has come forward or not yet so the identity remains a mystery for now. We do know this: the odds of picking the winning combination were 1 in 175 million. So that person is seriously, seriously, lucky.

Lottery officials announced the final jackpot total fell just shy of the $600 million price tag some were expecting on Friday, despite a surge in last minute ticket sales. The $590.5 million jackpot is still the biggest Powerball jackpot ever. Some very nice people split a $558 million Powerball jackpot in November 2012.
