What to know about early voting in Tom Green County

Early voting opened Monday in Tom Green County. Here's what to know about this election.

Election Administrator Vona Hudson declined Wednesday morning to release vote totals, saying said none will be released until election day.

There are 69,918 registered voters in the county, and 55,721 in the city.

As of April 24, there were 614 absentee ballots returned. There were 912 early voters after Tuesday, April 23.

Where and when do I vote?

Early voting is at the main branch voting location at the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave. on the first floor.

The branch will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The last day for a mail-in ballot is May 4.

Election day voting is 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 4.

What is on the ballot?

All sample ballots are available online at tomgreencountytx.gov/page/ele.SampleBallots.

There will be different elections and propositions, depending on your precinct.

Christoval ISD will have a proposition on the ballet voting for or against an issuance of $19.5 million of bonds by the district for designing, renovating, etc. for school facilities, purchase of school buses and more.

The bond will also be used for "levying of tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest on the bonds and the cost of any credit agreements executed in connection with the bonds."

"This is a property tax increase," the ballet stated.

Who is running this election?

The candidates for chief of police in San Angelo include Lt. Chris CiminoSgt. Travis Griffith and Lt. Mike Hernandez.

The candidates for the Wall ISD Board of Trustees are Crystal Braden, Houston Guy, Curtis Holtman, Kevin Ripple and Doug Wilde. Voters can vote for none, one or two candidates.
