KL shares open higher

KUALA LUMPUR: The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened higher on Wednesday, in tandem with regional markets, and tracking the upbeat overnight performance on Wall Street, dealers said.

At 9.12am, the key index stood at 1,877.99, up 5.83 points, after opening firmer at 1,8874.35.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 8.381 points to 17,447, the Industrial Index gained 17.25 points to 3,280.67 and the Plantation Index appreciated 7.57 points to 8,383.66.

The FBM Emas Index added 33.011 points to 13,142.61, FBMT100 Index increased 32.119 points to 12,693.31, FBM 70 climbed 8.439 points to 14,414.3 and the FBM Ace advanced 63.33 points to 7,312.65.

Gainers led losers 241 to 115 while 235 counters unchanged, 1,052 untraded and 21 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 504.72 lots million shares worth RM139.47 million.

Heavyweights, Maybank was two sen lower at RM10.06, Public Bank gained six sen to RM19.40 and Tenaga rose four sen to RM12.44.

Among actives, Nexgram Holdings added 1.5 to 15 sen, Marco Holdings inched up two sen to 25.5 and PDZ Holdings perked 2.5 sen to 40 sen.-- Bernama
