Body found in Holston River identified as Kingsport man

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A body found in the Holston River at Riverbend Park on Tuesday has been identified as a Kingsport man.

According to the Kingsport Police Department (KPD), officers responded to a drowning on the South Fork of the Holston River at Riverbend Park around 6:45 p.m.

The body found was identified by police as Ronald Wayne Davidson, 75, of Kingsport.

Davidson was believed to be fishing in or around the river, the KPD reported.

The cause of death remains under investigation.

The KPD said the body was sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson City for autopsy.
