Two of the league’s most dynamic players could be out due to injuries when the Kings face the top team in the Western Conference on Friday night at Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Kings (33-25) are listing De’Aaron Fox as questionable because of a left knee contusion. Fox sustained the injury in Monday’s loss to the Miami Heat. He went through morning shootaround and pregame warmups before being ruled out for Wednesday’s blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets.

The Timberwolves are listing Anthony Edwards as questionable due to left ankle soreness. The two-time All-Star scored 34 points in 40 minutes in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday before appearing on the team’s injury report Thursday.

The Timberwolves (42-17) are No. 1 in the West, a game ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder. They have won three in a row and seven of their last eight.

The Kings (33-25) need a win to stop their slide in the West after losing two in a row and four of their last seven. They have fallen to eighth in the West, one game behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 6 seed and a half-game behind the Dallas Mavericks for No. 7.

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are just two games behind Sacramento now. The Warriors have won eight of 10. The Lakers have won seven of 10.

Fox watch

Fox participated in Sacramento’s morning shootaround Friday in Minneapolis, just as he did Wednesday in Denver. Fans on social media noted Fox didn’t appear to be moving particularly well in a short video posted by The Sacramento Bee’s Chris Biderman.

Fox will likely go through pregame warmups again before a decision is made regarding his status for Friday’s game.

Ruled out

Fox has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Timberwolves. Davion Mitchell will likely start his second game in a row in place of Fox.
