The driver who was later identified by deputies as 27-year-old Dominique Deshaun Jones immediately sped off north on Avenal Cut Off at a high rate of speed.

The Deputy attempted to pursue Jones but due to his disregard for public safety, erratic driving, and busy traffic conditions, officials say they discontinued the pursuit after 20 seconds.

Air 1 was able to follow the vehicle as it continued northbound on the Avenal Cut Off as it reached speeds of over 110 mph.

Deputies say he continued weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed lost control of the Kia and crashed just south of Highway 198 on the ramp from Avenal Cut Off.

Jones took off on foot and refused to comply with the deputies when K9 Boomer was introduced to apprehend Jones.

After a short struggle officials say, Jones was taken into custody and treated for his injuries sustained from the K9 utilization.

Jones was booked into the Kings County Jail after he was treated for his injuries.
