Kim Kardashian's reaction to controversial blackface accusations on 'KUWTK'

On Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian discovered that she almost broke the internet again with a promo pic for her new beauty line, which some people online believed was inappropriate.

“I did a photo shoot for my first launch of my KKW Beauty Contour Sticks and we wanted them really moody,” said Kim. “I was really tan. I wanted to show the contour. The photos ended up being a little bit darker than I was, and there were some people online saying that I was doing blackface and the photos were inappropriate.” While on a couch with her assistant Stephanie, Kim told her that she “would never in a million years be disrespectful and do that.”

With the picture going viral on social media, Kim didn’t want the negative publicity to ruin her new business venture. “I mean, I get it. I was supertan, the lighting is really moody, so I can get why people would say that. I just don’t want to give anyone a reason to say something negative.” So, she had the controversial image taken down in order to re-edit it. “When you’re, you know, running sh*t, you just literally have to own up to it and you have to change it and fix it and not, like, hide and not understand,” said Kim. “I fully understood what people were saying. But I’m not gonna let this ruin all the hard work we put into it and, like, dwell on it. Let’s fix it, let’s move on.”

When the KKW Beauty line launched, it brought in an estimated $14.4 million and completely sold out in under three hours. So, in hindsight, we know it didn’t affect business. If anything, this episode showed that Kim can keep cool under pressure, a necessary quality for all successful entrepreneurs.
