Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome baby girl via surrogate: 'We're so in love'

And baby makes five! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have welcomed their third child together via a surrogate. The reality star, 37, announced her daughter’s arrival on her website in a post titled "She’s Here!" on Tuesday, January 16, writing: “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl.”

She added, “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister." Beneath the title, Kim noted, "We're so in love."

Kim and Kanye’s little girl, who joins older siblings North, four, and Saint, two, was born on Monday, January 15, at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz. The mom-of-three confirmed in September that she and her husband were expecting their third child during an extended supertease for season 14 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

TMZ reported last June that the business mogul and her 40-year-old husband struck an agreement with a surrogacy agency and were moving forward with the process – after a procedure to help the reality TV star carry another baby was unsuccessful. The TV star suffered from placenta accreta during her last pregnancy with son Saint. The condition, where the placenta grows into the wall of the womb preventing it from easy detachment during birth, was also accompanied with preeclampsia.

Kim was vocal about her desire to expand her family. “Kanye and I have always talked about having more kids, but after what I went through in Paris, the urgency is even greater,” she said during an episode of her E! series. “I can’t carry any more kids…it’s the worst. It’s not going to be happy for me.”

She also admitted, “I had a full break down. Kanye and I are going to look into other options and see what we are comfortable with. After talking to Kanye …I always knew surrogacy was an option, now it’s my reality. Whatever is meant to be will be.”
