According to WFMJ, an East Palestine, Ohio, 8-year-old took his dad’s van for a quick drive to McDonald’s on Sunday. The kid learned to drive by watching YouTube videos, police later learned, and reportedly stopped at lights and kept under the speed limit during his half-mile drive, eye witnesses later said.

The boy’s parents were napping when he decided to make the trip, so he took his 4-year-old sister with him. The motivation for the drive? He just wanted a cheeseburger, he told police (while eating at McDonald’s) (after the employee at the drive-through noticed there were only children in the car that pulled up) (and the kids were asked to come inside the restaurant and wait there until their grandparents came).

The children haven’t been publicly identified and their parents haven’t spoken out. Police officer Jacob Koehler told the station no charges are being filed because who can blame the kid? OK, that is not the reason charges aren’t being filed, but still. Who can blame him?
