Kicking off the weekend with another storm

It’s the quiet between two storms early this afternoon, with a bit of a breeze gusting up to 30-50 mph especially south/east. Most sunny skies across the state, except across the Four Corners as that’s where the storm is approaching from. It will begin to bring rain to the northwest corner of the state early this evening, continuing to spread east and south into the overnight hours.

Forecast Continues Below

It’s cooler today across the state, but still seasonable. Tomorrow will drop well below average for most of the state, especially north/west with more cloud coverage and precipitation expected. Low elevation showers and storms are likely across northern, western, and central New Mexico. The Santa Fe and Albuquerque metros can expect to see a few thunderstorms throughout the morning and afternoon. High elevation snow will persist across the mountain peaks of northern and west central New Mexico, maybe accumulating a couple inches.

Precipitation will continue through the early evening hours before drying out as the storm departs Saturday night. Drier and warmer weather will return into Sunday, with slightly breezy conditions stick around. A warming trend will pick up into early next week as well with 5-15° above average highs returning to the forecast. We’ll be going on a ping pong of weather conditions over the next several days.
