Kia driver flees scene of crash with motorcycle in Kansas City Friday night: Police

A man and a boy were injured in a hit-and-run crash Friday night when a car pulled out in front of a motorcycle, police said.

An orange Kawasaki Z125 motorcycle was traveling east on Independence Avenue at about 7 p.m. when a gray Kia Soul turned left from White Avenue and into the motorcycle’s path.

The motorcycle hit the side of the Kia, and the driver of the Kia fled the scene without stopping, police said. Officers later found the Kia abandoned.

The Kia driver had not been located as of Saturday morning, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesperson with Kansas City police.

A man who drove the motorcycle received minor injuries, but was not taken to a hospital. A boy who was his passenger was wearing a helmet and was taken to a hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Police did not provide their ages. No other information was available.
